1993-2002 Mike & the Mellotones.
From 1993 thru 2002, The Mellotones operated as a trio under the name Mike & the Mellotones.
They brought powerhouse blues to the people in a way no other Dutch band ever did before;
with bravoure, showmanship and balls (reminding people of The Fabulous Thunderbirds in their
early days!). This was not the average 'old fart blues'. Then already, they rocked the blues
in an innovative and daring way - just listen to older albums such as 'Thumbs Up' and 'Wild Live Action'!
Before taking it even further in The Mellotones, Mike & the Mellotones played somewhat
700+ gigs in these first ten years of existence, allover clubs, festivals and roadhouses from Ireland to Egypt!
It is not possible to recall all dates, but Mike & the Mellotones played some interesting gigs already in those
days, including the following:
Belgian Rhythm & Bluesfest (Be)
Moulin Bluesfest (Nl)
Colne Bluesfest (UK)
Big Rivers Bluesfest (Nl)
Goffert Bluesfest (Nl)
Breda Barst (Nl)
Zwarte Cross (Nl)
Huntenpop (Nl)
Bluesrock Festival Tegelen (Nl)
Polderpop (Nl)
Southern Bluesnight (Nl)

Effenaar, Eindhoven (Nl)
Heimathaus, Twist (Germany)
Tivoli, Utrecht (Nl)
Park 3, Harderwijk (Nl)
Patronaat, Haarlem (Nl)
Nighttown, Rotterdam (Nl)
Meisenfrei, Bremen (Germany)
...and LOTS of others.
