Jaap 'Nick Nasty' Lagerweij Guitars.
With an appearance and demeanor not unlike the
character Jack Black in the comedy School Of Rock,
Jaap 'Nick Nasty' Lagerweij plays guitar in The
Mellotones using chords that would send any other
guitarist straight to hospital. Born in
Wageningen, The Netherlands on New Year's Eve of 1981, this guy knows
how to rock and how to roll. Jaap has a particular
preference for pedals that are so over the top they
make his amp sound like it's ready to explode. Hence
the name 'Nick Nasty'. With Jaap on board, The
Mellotones are able to rock even harder than before.
But that's not all Jaap has to offer. He has an
exceptional sense of melody, which is very much
inspired by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. He also likes to dabble in
jazz and few people know he plays a mean cello, the
instrument he started out on. There's more to Jaap
than meets the eye. He's a musical mystery wrapped in
an enigma.
Jaap is influenced by all sorts of guitar slingers, including
David Gilmour, Marc Ford, Michael Landau, Zakk Wylde, Steve Lukather, Nuno
Bettencourt, Doyle Bramhall II, Marty Friedman, Jeff Beck, Trent
Reznor, Rich Robinson, John Scofield and many others.
